Amidst a vibrant atmosphere at Times Square, New York, Indian-Americans united in celebration following UNESCO's historic acknowledgment of Gujarat's Garba dance. The Federation of Indian Associations NY-NJ-CT-NE orchestrated a jubilant gathering on Thursday to honor Garba's inclusion in UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List.

The iconic square buzzed with fervor as people adorned in traditional Gujarati attire showcased Garba, a cultural emblem, to the beats of the famous song 'Dhol baaje.' The video of this cultural extravaganza quickly became viral on social media, reflecting the community's elation.

UNESCO's recognition of Garba occurred during the 18th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Botswana. This significant inclusion underlines Garba's role as a unifying force, fostering social inclusivity and gender diversity.
