Fit for a King:-
King Charles and the Royal Family are preparing for his coronation ceremony in May. Ensuring every detail is perfectly executed takes a lot of work and practice. One such unexpected preparation by the King is revealed by Royal Expert Joe Little.
According to Joe Little, King Charles may be practicing wearing the crown due to its weight. Little explained that the queen had to practice for quite some time wearing both the St. Edward’s Crown and the Imperial State Crown because of their weight.
As the St. Edward’s Crown is only used during coronation ceremonies, King Charles may need to practice wearing it as it is a once-in-a-reign moment. Small mentioned that King Charles is aware that Queen Elizabeth prepared for wearing the crown by practicing with the large headgear at home. Despite not wearing the crown for an extended period, King Charles will still needs to practice and refine his skills.
Little said that he would be amazed if King Charles did not practice wearing the crown, and there may even be a mock Abbey set up in Buckingham Palace so that they can rehearse. Queen Elizabeth, as often as possible, went to Westminster Convent during the run-up to her crowning ritual for different practices. Historic Royal Palaces said that the St. Edward’s Crown weighs nearly 5 pounds, and the Imperial State Crown weighs over 2 pounds.
