In the latest development, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been served the ninth summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) concerning the liquor policy case. The ED, on March 21, directed Kejriwal to participate in the ongoing investigation, setting the stage for another legal confrontation. This summons comes in the wake of Kejriwal's appearance in a Delhi court on March 16, where he was granted bail over his failure to comply with previous ED summons related to the same case.

Throughout this legal saga, Kejriwal has consistently denounced the summons as politically motivated and unlawful, a sentiment echoed by his party, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The AAP alleges that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is orchestrating these actions to impede Kejriwal's participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, thereby hindering his campaign efforts.

Adding fuel to the fire, AAP ministers revealed that the ED had issued yet another summons to Kejriwal on March 18, this time regarding a case involving the Delhi Jal Board. They assert that these maneuvers are part of a larger scheme by the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to undermine Kejriwal's political standing.

During the court proceedings, Kejriwal's legal counsel sought permission for his client to depart and continue arguments elsewhere, a request to which the ED did not object. The court subsequently granted Kejriwal bail, scheduling the next hearing for April 1. Additionally, it instructed the ED to furnish Kejriwal with relevant documents about the case.

This legal tussle began when Kejriwal challenged the initial summons issued by a Magistrate court, triggering a series of legal maneuvers between his defense team and the ED. The ED, in response, filed complaints against Kejriwal for non-compliance, escalating the conflict further.

As the battle ensues, the political implications of these legal proceedings are palpable, with both sides leveraging the situation to bolster their narratives. While Kejriwal and the AAP decry it as an assault on democracy, the BJP maintains its stance on upholding the law, setting the stage for a protracted legal and political showdown.
