Dubai has been chosen as the host city for the highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 player's auction, set to take place on December 19. This marks a historic moment as it will be the first time the IPL players' auction will be held on foreign soil, generating significant excitement among fans and teams alike. However, the final location for the tournament remains undisclosed.

According to a recent report by ESPNCricinfo, the IPL 2024 auction is scheduled for December 19, and teams have until November 15 to submit their lists of retained and released players. In a major development that has caught the attention of cricket enthusiasts, all ten participating teams will have a substantial purse of INR 100 crore at their disposal. This represents a noteworthy INR 5 crore increment compared to the previous purse amount of INR 95 crore.

The majority of this increased budget is expected to be allocated to securing deals with key players. Teams' final purse values will be determined once they submit their lists of retained players, and any unspent amounts from the 2023 auction will be added to their overall budget for the IPL 2024 auction.

Currently, Punjab Kings stand out with the largest purse, boasting INR 12.20 crore. They are poised to augment this sum by releasing several underperforming players following their disappointing results in the 2023 IPL season. Meanwhile, reigning champions Chennai Super Kings still retain a substantial INR 1.5 crore in their purse, while the runner-up of the previous edition, Gujarat Titans, holds INR 4.5 crore.

Adding to the anticipation, two formidable Australian cricketers, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, are set to make their IPL 2024 return, causing a buzz in the upcoming auction. Their presence is anticipated to spark a bidding war, while their compatriot Travis Head is also confirmed to participate in the auction, likely commanding a substantial sum when the gavel falls on December 19.
