In a recent interaction, Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu addressed the Income Tax raids on his premises. He emphasized that the funds uncovered during the raids were unrelated to any political party, particularly distancing them from the Congress. Sahu clarified that the recovered money, exceeding Rs 300 crore, was tied to his personal businesses, notably liquor firms.

Expressing dismay over the raids, Sahu highlighted his extensive political career spanning three decades and voiced his disappointment at this unprecedented event. He openly acknowledged the funds' connection to his liquor enterprises, citing that cash transactions are customary in this industry. Moreover, he shed light on his family's longstanding involvement in politics and various developmental projects, emphasizing their commitment to education with the establishment of schools and colleges.

Addressing the BJP's accusations of the cash being 'black money,' Sahu urged the Income Tax Department to ascertain the nature of the funds, emphasizing that his family members, actively involved in the business, would provide the necessary explanations.

The Income Tax Department's raids targeted Sahu's establishments in Odisha's Balangir, primarily focusing on Boudh Distillery Private Limited, an Odisha-based company associated with him. A staggering sum of 351 crore was seized during these searches, leading to heightened scrutiny. Despite this, the Congress party distanced itself from the significant cash discovery, reiterating that Sahu alone could clarify the origins of the funds found at premises linked to him.
