The BCCI has conveyed a strong message through the cases of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer, emphasizing that the safety of players should always be paramount, even in urgent situations. This incident serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting that stringent measures will be implemented to uphold the human and ethical values of the game.

Nitin Patel, head of the Sports Science department at the National Cricket Academy, dismissed Shreyas' back discomfort as the reason.

As a result, Shreyas Iyer had to make himself available for the semi-final match against Tamil Nadu from March 2nd.

However, by then, it was too late as they had already been left out of the annual contract list.

The case of 25-year-old Ishan Kishan is somewhat similar to Shreyas Iyer's.

Last year, the BCCI placed him in Grade C of the annual contract. During this contract, he played two Tests, 19 ODIs, and 10 T20 matches for India. However, despite constantly touring with the team in the current season, he only got to play two ODIs and three T20 matches.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan couldn't even go on the tour of South Africa for two Tests in December-January. It was said at the time that he was 'mentally fatigued' from continuous travel.

However, it seemed that contrary to his claims, his interest was more in preparing for the IPL rather than playing interesting Test matches.

This situation arose when the team's head coach Rahul Dravid advised him to participate in five-day cricket matches before returning to the national team.

Despite Rahul Dravid's advice, Ishan Kishan chose to ignore Ranji matches and went to Baroda to practice for the IPL with the Pandya brothers.

The BCCI's top officials expressed their displeasure once again on February 27 when they arrived to play in a private tournament at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. The consequences of all this are now before everyone.

In its statement, the BCCI has clearly stated, "Please note that consideration has not been given to the names of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan for the contract list this year."

This statement also advises players to prioritize domestic cricket matches if they are outside the national team.
