Haryana Nuh violence

In an unfortunate turn of events, the violence-hit Nuh district in Haryana witnessed the demolition of a three-story hotel as the authorities continued their anti-encroachment drive for the third consecutive day on Sunday.

Locals reported that the hotel had become a gathering spot during the clashes and was used as a site to pelt stones at the police. Moreover, several shops outside the Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College and Hospital were also torn down during the operation.

Mobile internet suspension extended till August 8.

The shopkeepers expressed dismay that the authorities conducted the demolition late at night and failed to serve any prior notices to the vendors or shop owners.

Simultaneously, a panchayat, summoned by Hindu outfits, is scheduled to commence today (Sunday) in Tigra village, sector 57, Gurugram. The panchayat has been convened to protest against the arrests made following demonstrations that spread across the city in response to the clashes that began in Nuh on July 31.

The tensions initially arose while attempting to halt a procession organised by Vishva Hindu Parishad, which escalated to Gurugram and other state districts. To maintain control, the police have imposed restrictions on the entry of outsiders into Tigra village during the panchayat.

In response to the escalating situation, the Haryana government has extended the suspension of mobile internet services in both Nuh and Palwal districts until August 8, according to an official order reported by news agency PTI.

The suspension of mobile internet and SMS services was initially implemented after the clashes erupted in Nuh on July 31 and was later extended until August 5. The order for further extension came from Additional Chief Secretary (Home), T V S N Prasad, on Saturday evening.

Authorities closely monitor the situation in Nuh district as the demolition drive and panchayat unfolds. The government's decision to extend the mobile internet suspension indicates their efforts to control the problem and prevent the spread of misinformation. However, as the violence and demonstrations persist, the region remains highly alert.
