In a thrilling turn of events, Afghanistan achieved their best-ever run-chase in ODIs, delivering a stunning blow to Pakistan's World Cup campaign. The ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup witnessed a monumental upset as Afghanistan emerged victorious, marking their third win in the tournament and pushing Pakistan to the brink of early elimination.

Throughout the match, Afghanistan appeared to be the dominant force, outshining Pakistan at every turn. Their impressive run-chase showcased the talents of key players, including Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah, and Hashmatullah Shahidi, who collectively powered their team to a resounding victory.

This historic triumph was Afghanistan's third victory in Cricket World Cup history, following their wins against Scotland in the 2015 edition and a recent victory over England in the current tournament. The Afghan team, which had struggled to live up to its potential in multi-nation tournaments for years, is now demonstrating its true capabilities on the world stage.

The pinnacle of this achievement was Afghanistan's record-breaking run-chase, with 283 runs being their highest-ever total in ODI cricket history. Notably, this run-chase against Pakistan set a new benchmark in World Cup history, as no team had previously chased down a target of 275-plus against the Men in Green. The previous record of 274 had been held by India since the 2003 edition.

Afghanistan's remarkable performance exemplified their prowess in the cricketing world and signaled a turning point in their ODI history. The thrilling match also left both teams, Afghanistan and Pakistan, level on points after playing five games, intensifying the competition and making the race for semi-final qualification challenging, much like England's prospects in the tournament.
