A mild explosion rattled the vicinity surrounding the Army gate of the Jorhat military station in Assam's Jorhat district. The incident unfolded on a Thursday evening, prompting swift responses from local authorities. Thankfully, initial reports indicated no casualties or significant damages resulting from the blast.

At approximately 8 pm, residents nearby heard the blast near the army station's gate in the Lichubari area. Law enforcement, including District Commissioner Pullock Mahanta and senior police officials, promptly arrived at the scene for assessment and investigation.

Despite the alarming nature of the incident, officials assured the public that there were no immediate threats or injuries. The quick response and lack of reported harm eased initial concerns among locals.

Following the explosion, security measures were significantly heightened throughout the area. Increased patrolling and tightened security became immediately noticeable, emphasizing a proactive approach to prevent any potential threats or follow-up incidents.

Notably, an e-mail statement from the ULFA(I) surfaced days prior, claiming responsibility for recent blasts in other regions like Tinsukia and Sivasagar. Their statement cited grievances against Director General of Police GP Singh, attributing the blasts as responses to perceived 'arrogance.'
