In a solemn response to the deadliest attacks since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iranian authorities confirmed the arrest of 11 suspects tied to the Islamic State-claimed twin blasts during a ceremony commemorating the fourth anniversary of Qassem Soleimani's death. The attacks, which killed nearly 100 people, unfolded during a gathering at the Kerman Martyrs Cemetery. President Ebrahim Raisi, in a televised address, asserted that security forces would determine the appropriate time and place for action. As victims were laid to rest, mourners expressed their grief and demanded revenge.

The Iranian Intelligence Ministry disclosed that two individuals were apprehended in Kerman for supporting the suicide bombers, while nine others, located in different parts of Iran, were detained for suspected links to the incident. The ministry reported the seizure of explosive devices, vests, detonators, and raw materials, emphasizing the gravity of the planned attacks. Among the suicide bombers, one was identified as a Tajik national.

The attacks occurred a day after the suspected Israeli strike that killed a deputy head of the Palestinian group Hamas in Beirut. The first bomb detonated approximately 700 meters from Soleimani's grave, with a second explosion occurring 20 minutes later, causing more casualties. The delay between blasts, a tactic often employed by militants, targets emergency responders. The Islamic State's role in the attack signifies its persistent attempt to rebuild influence, following its decline after the US-led coalition's efforts in Iraq and Syria.

Expressing solidarity, India conveyed shock and sadness, with the External Affairs Ministry emphasizing support for Iran during this challenging time. The international community closely watches as Iran grapples with the aftermath of the devastating attacks.
