The American TV series 'Yellowstone', starring Kevin Costner and Kelly Reilly, will see its end in November after the second half of the fifth season is aired.
As Kevin Costner’s fans are saddened by this news, here’s a throwback to his on-screen lady loves and his chemistry with them.
Yellowstone
Talking about Costner’s character in Yellowstone, he had quite a few casual relationships going on throughout the show. Actress Wendy Moniz played the role of his first love interest Lynelle Perry, the governor of Montana. Actress Piper Perabo also played one of his love interests in the show.
While speaking to Us Weekly in April 2023, Wendy Moniz spoke about her chemistry with Costner, stating "We definitely had a natural ease with each other out of the gate, and it came across on screen it seems. I think sometimes people have chemistry naturally, and sometimes they don’t and have to fake it, and it still works. It’s that intangible thing."
Actress Piper Perabo, a lover of romance, said "The love story is kicking into gear on ‘Yellowstone.’ I know a lot of people watch it for the cowboys and the ranch, but I watch it for the love story". "We're turning up the heat. It's been a hard couple of years. Let's turn up the heat for a minute," she added.
‘Message in a Bottle’
Message in a Bottle, starring Robin Wright as Kevin Costner’s love interest, was based on Nicholas Spark’s novel by the same name and was titled Costner’s best romantic movie. Wright played the role of a journalist named Theresa Osborne, who found a bottle containing three letters addressed to Catherine, buried in the sand. This movie was considered to have brought luck to Costner’s sinking career.
‘The Bodyguard’
Whitney Houston, who starred as Costner’s love interest in The Bodyguard, considered Kevin Costner as one of her close friends. While remembering their bond, Costner said, "The Whitney I knew, despite her success and worldwide fame, still wondered, ‘Am I good enough?’ ‘Am I pretty enough?’ ‘Will they like me?’ Whitney, if you could hear me now, I would tell you, you weren’t just good enough, you were great". The actress died from accidental drowning in February 2011.
Bull Durham
Costner still remembers his bond with co-star Susan Sarandon, who although he does not meet much nowadays but is still good friends with. In 2014, Costner spoke about her at an interview with Access Hollywood, saying, "She’s a woman, and she is every inch that. And she is graceful about it. … She’s got it, man. … She’s timelessly hot and she’s special. Sue is special.”
"I don’t call Sue, but if I really thought I needed something fixed or something felt broken or I was confused about something, I have no doubt that she would take that call and, No. 2, that she would have a real answer for it. She’s very smart, and she’s timeless to me," he added.
Tin Cup
Kevin Costner and Rene Russo worked together in the comedy ‘Tin Cup’ where they played two characters who were very unlikely to fall in love but eventually, Costner’s character charmed his way into his lady love’s heart. When asked about his co-actor, Costner said "Rene is, she’s just a — I’m going to say a word and now, all the sudden, the Twitter’s gonna fly — but she’s like this. It's a term of endearment, but she’s like a great broad. She’s so easy around men and around women. She’s a really unthreatening person. She makes guys feel. She makes every guy feel like they have a chance, and nobody does. … She’s very, she was a good screen partner".
