The Gulf countries play a significant role in contributing to the Indian economy in the form of remittances by providing employment as well as livelihood opportunities to millions of Indians, which in turn becomes an important source of foreign exchange. Hence, fostering closer bonds with the Middle Eastern countries is crucial at present. However, at the same time, these countries are also becoming more competitive day by day.

According to experts at India Today Conclave South 2023, the positive impression of Indians, particularly skilled workers from southern India, in the Gulf countries may be very much helpful in converting the bilateral ties between these nations to a strategic one. The Officer on Special Duty (External Cooperation), Venu Rajamony, who is currently posted with the Kerala government, stated, "Gulf Arabs have a positive view of people from Kerala, of Indians."

While addressing the New Bridge to the Gulf session at the Conclave, Rajamony, who also served as a former Ambassador of India to the Netherlands expressed, "The Indian presence is valued much more than Pakistanis in Gulf countries. China can never match India in people-to-people connect with Arabs."
