Yesterday (7th May 2023), BJP leader Vasundhara Raje spoke up against false messages conveyed by the Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congressman Ashok Gehlot.

Background of The Issue: What Had Ashok Gehlot Said About Vasundhara Raje?

In the year 2020, Sachin Pilot, the Deputy CM of Rajasthan, protested against CM Ashok Gehlot with the aid of 18 other MLAs. The internal political Crisis within the ruling Congress party lasted for a few months, after which Sachin Pilot was removed from the party.

Recently, Ashok Gehlot, while commenting on the incident, said, “Vasundhara Raje Scindia and Kailash Meghwal had said that it has never been our tradition to topple the elected government on the basis of money. They did not support those who toppled the government due to which our government survived.” This statement by Ashok Gehlot expressed that the BJP leader Vasundhara Raje had engaged in unruly tactics involving the exchange of money to support the ruling Congress party.

Vasundhara Raje’s Comeback Against Ashok Gehlot

Vasundhara Raje termed the statements by Gehlot a ‘conspiracy’ against her. She even went to the extent to say that no other person had ever insulted Raje as much as Gehlot had. 

Her take on the issue is that Gehlot, on being threatened by the rebellion rising within his own party, is trying all hook and Crook to play a dirty game of defamation. With this, she has denied all charges of exchange of money or favors with Congress.
