Goose Bumping History of Shaktipeeths
You may have come across the term 'Shakti Peethas,' which is commonly mentioned in the Hindu religion. All those Shakti Peethas are significant temples dedicated to Adi Goddess, the goddess who was formed with all of the male ‘divine' strength. She is all-mighty and revered as the spiritual mother who nurtures and protects her family members.
So now We will discuss briefly “What is Shaktipeeth”??
There are countless temples in India, each with its historical importance. However, there seems to be an inspiring story that embodies the 51 Shakti Peeth, or shrines scattered throughout Northern India. Although the majority of the 51 are in Mother India, seven are in Bangladesh, two in Nepal, three in Pakistan, one in Sri Lanka, and one in Tibet.
What makes these Shakti Peeths unique?
Goose Bumping History of Shaktipeeths
They are entirely related to the Hindu religion, Durga or Shakti (or the ultimate expression of Power), and these all share a very remarkable story.
Goddess Shakti in form of Sati came to be the youngest daughter of Prajapati Daksha. Daksha cherished her the most and arranged a Swyambar Sabha for his daughter’s marriage. But Sati was deeply in love with Lord Shiva. She was not ready to marry someone except Lord Shiva.
Sati's Desire to get married to Devadi Dev Mahadeva, was the only Deity in the Hindu mythology who was not married and started living an unhealthy lifestyle. An Avtar of Goddess Shakti as a human character took birth as the youngest daughter of King Daksha. She desired to be Shiva's ideal partner.
Sati was her nickname. Sati was dedicated to the divine Lord Shiva from an early age and has done serious prayers to see him as her man. But Daksha, Brahma’s son, despised Shiva's unusual style of living. The Disrespect of Lord Shiva Sati wedded Shiva against Daksha's wishes in Sati's existence, but she still desired her father's approval of their marital relationship. Daksha arranged a huge yagna to appease the Divinities. He purposefully invited none of Mahadeva and Sati.

Lord Shiva's Dishonour in the Existence of Sati But, against Mahadeva's wishes, Sati continued to insist on attending the yagna. She didn't think she necessitated a formal request to attend her parents’ home. Sati was allowed to treat as an unwanted guest when she approached her father's house. Furthermore, Daksha made the classic mistake of accusing Lord Shiva in the existence of Sati.
Sati offered Herself as a Devotion in the Yagna Burning
Sati decided to offer herself as a devotion in the Yagna burning. Sati, angered by her father's arrogance and stupidity, ended up throwing herself into the yagna burning. Adi Goddess had left her fallen body at this point and thus, the Peeths (Places) are named Satipeeths or Shaktipeeths
Shiva erupted in anger when he realized the facts. He carried Sati's lifeless body in his upper arms and began tandava. Tandava is the dance of breakdown and destruction. Shiva's movement troubled the Universe's consistency. Lord Vishnu chopped away Sati's body in 51 parts with his Sudarshan Chakra to prevent the humanity and Universe. In 51 places all over the Universe, the body parts got dropped and these places are well-known as Satipeeths or Shaktipeeths.
