On Sunday, the security of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma was intensified by the Assam Police following the emergence of an audio clip, allegedly featuring a pro-Khalistan leader issuing a threat against him.

The ULFA-I has penned an open letter to "Sikhs For Justice," a pro-Khalistani organization, following its threat to the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma. The ULFA-I conveyed their dissatisfaction with the concerns raised by "Sikhs For Justice," clarifying that the situation is regrettable and has been misconstrued.
The ULFA-I explained that during the
nationwide outbreak of anti-Sikhism after "Operation Bluestar" in
1984, the Tholgiri community in Assam did not subject Sikhs residing in Assam
or the West-South-East Asia [WeSEA] region to any mental or physical harm.
ULFA-I stressed that no incident of violence or harassment was reported against
Sikhs during that time in Assam or WeSEA, which indicates the Tholgiri
community's traditional values of kindness and benevolence.
The ULFA-I also emphasized the intolerability
of brutal torture inflicted upon individuals, referencing the detention of
eight members of 'Khalistan and Waris Punjab De' in Dibrugarh jail. They
clarified that they have not come across any news that contradicts the Tholgiri
community's principles in Assam and predicted that the current situation will
mirror that of 1984.
ULFA-I urged the leaders of "Sikhs For
Justice" to avoid making unwanted comments and to acknowledge the positive
actions of Assam's political leaders and people during past difficult
situations. This letter was written against the backdrop of escalating tensions
between "Sikhs For Justice" and the Assam government regarding the
detention of eight Khalistani activists.
