Gruesome impacts of a ‘flesh- eating drug’ have startled the streets of Philadelphia. Reportedly, this ‘flesh- eating drug’ has caused the skin decay of its consumers. What is This ‘flesh- eating drug’? Also known as ‘tranq’, this ‘flesh- eating drug’ is a combination of Xylazine and Fentanyl which is an opiate compound. Tranq is originally used to pacify animals, however, the usage of this drug among humans is a part of abusive drug practices leaving its consumers in awe. Excessive doses of Tranq has caused deaths of many in the United States. Flesh- Eating Drug Effects of Tranq, The ‘Flesh- Eating Drug’ Tranq has left the skin of its consumers dry while shedding scaly skin particles in some cases. Further, it causes the skin to open up with wounds which spread at an alarming rate all over the body and the skin might require amputation as the most urgent treatment available. “This is more like tissue death. This is black, necrotic tissue destruction,” said UCLA researcher Joseph Friedman. Apart from effects on the skin, Tranq causes slow breath and excessive sleepiness. Drug Abuse of Tranq, The ‘Flesh- Eating Drug’ Cases of Tranq overdosage have surfaced in Philadelphia, Delaware and Michigan. Around 19% of the deaths that occurred due to drug overdose in Maryland were also caused by usage of Tranq. Reports have found that once Tranq is administered into one, there are high chances of mishappenings like road accidents and sexual harassment. Sam Brennan, an American resident said, “It’s something I’ve never seen before anywhere else. People all over the place, sticking needles anywhere they possibly can, passed out.” It is imperative for the US government to take speedy action regarding the condemnation of the usage of this ‘flesh- eating drug’.
