In a tragic incident in Karnataka, a massive fire engulfed a cracker shop in Bengaluru, leaving 12 people dead. The government has taken swift action by announcing compensation for the victims' families.

The fire broke out at a firecracker godown-cum-shop inAttibele, Anekal taluk, during the unloading of firecracker cartons from a transport vehicle around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Among the injured was the shop owner, and one individual with severe burns has been referred to another hospital for treatment, according to the police.

The Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru Rural), Mallikarjun Baladandi, reported that 12 charred bodies have been recovered from the site, and all have been transferred to the hospital. Firefighters are conducting a search operation to determine if there are more casualties inside the gutted shop. Multiple fire engines were deployed to control the blaze.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that 12 to 15 people were inside the shop when the fire erupted. Experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory are on-site to examine the incident, although the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Efforts are underway to identify the bodies, and authorities believe there may be more victims as the search operation continues. The godown housed firecrackers worth several lakhs for the upcoming Deepavali festival, which ignited and caused multiple explosions.

DK Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, visited the scene of the fire and sent his sympathies on social media. He declared that the relatives of the dead would receive Rs. 5 lakh in compensation. "I am deeply saddened to hear the news that 12 people died in a fire accident that broke out in a firecracker store near Anekal, Bengaluru urban district," he wrote in a tweet. Tomorrow, I'm going to check out the accident scene. I offer the workers' families my sympathies.

This sad event serves as a sobering reminder of the significance of taking safety precautions and procedures while handling firecrackers, especially during festive seasons.
