On Thursday, Congress leaders criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the party's spokesperson Pawan Khera's arrest He was made to deplane from the IndiGo flight heading for Raipur. According to Congress's national secretary Jairam Ramesh, Khera's detention before the party's general meeting was "harassment plain and Simple-Modi style." Many CISF jawans had to be stationed close to the tarmac since almost 50 Congress leaders scheduled to board the Raipur-bound Indigo flight sat on dharna. Khera filed a petition with the Supreme Court asking for relief from the numerous FIRs filed against him in Assam, Lucknow, and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh for his alleged statements against Prime Minister Modi. Before a bench presided over by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, senior attorney A M Singhvi, representing Khera, asked for the matter to be listed urgently. After the constitution bench's final day hearing in the Maharashtra Shiv Sena case, the CJI accepted to the matter to be heard at 3 PM. During the hearing, Sanghavi submitted that Mr Khera had immediately apologized for his  slip of tongue.
