Tripura Chief Minister Announces plans for the green hydrogen-based energy sector to make the state Southeast Asia's gateway
The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, announced that his government will develop a green hydrogen-based energy sector, making the state the gateway for Southeast Asia through new air, water, and rail connectivity. The announcement was made during the ongoing two-day-long science conclave as part of the G-20 Summit on ‘Clean Energy for a Green Future’ at Hapania International Fair Ground in Agartala. Saha stated that the state has already started working on solar and biomass-based energy and now plans to use green hydrogen for the generation of new energy. The Union budget has allocated Rs.10,000 crore towards the potential development of green hydrogen by the central government.
Tripura sees investment opportunities in key sectors as it gears up to become Southeast Asia's gateway
Saha further revealed that many investors have expressed their interest to explore different key sectors in the state by setting up industries, ranging from Rs.10 crores to Rs.300 crores, including hospitals and allied sectors, The upcoming opening of the Indo-Bangla Maitri Setu bridge will attract further investments in Tripura, positioning the state as a gateway to Southeast Asia due to its newly established connectivity through inland waterways, an international standard airport, and railway connectivity via the Sonamura and Daudkandi protocol route. The G-20 summit is focusing on Sustainable Development Goals, the development of green energy, and multilateral institutions, and is headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Experts discuss the potential for green hydrogen production in Tripura using renewable resources
In a separate briefing, the National Science Academy President, Professor Ashutosh Sharma, the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, Dr. Ajay Sur, and other experts discussed the scope of producing green hydrogen utilizing solar, wind, sustainable Energy , and bamboo resources available in the state.
