The COVID outbreak in India is showing Severe implications. Today, i.e., on the 20th of April 2023, India has reported a rise of 20% in the number of fresh cases in comparison to the rise during the previous days.

Abnormal Rise in COVID Cases: Few Deaths

With 12,591 fresh COVID cases today, the infection rate is rising in India at alarming levels. After this mammoth rise, the total number of active COVID cases reached 65,286. 

States such as Chattisgarh, Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab have also reported few COVID-related deaths, with the maximum number of fatalities being reported from the state of Maharashtra.

Hospitals and Administrative Authorities on High Alert

Mansukh Mandaviya, the Health Minister of India, has been supervising mock drills for both public and private hospitals to ensure preparedness for a surge in hospital admissions.

Besides this, several states have already mandated the use of masks in all public places. The Health Minister has also ordered the identification of emergency hotspots where COVID is on a steep rise. Regular testing and Vaccination will be conducted in such spots.
