On Tuesday a wave of missile strikes was launched by Russia across Ukraine, leaving behind many cities without power, as G20 leaders met in Bali.

The deputy head of the presidential administration said in a telegram that the situation across Ukraine was critical as a result. Ukrainian authorities said it was another planned attack aimed at the country’s energy infrastructure facilities.

According to reports, the missile strike aimed Kyiv, Kyiv region, Kharkov city as well as Poltava, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Zhitomir, Khmelnitsky, Lvov, violin, Rivne, Cherkasy, Odessa, Kirovohrad and Chernihiv regions.

A spokesperson for Ukraine’s air defense force said that more than 80 rockets had been launched and 20 were still in their transit. He also said, on 10 October the number exceeded of attacks which was the biggest to date.

In addition to this, the state energy company of Ukraine, Ukrenergo informed us that the extent of the damage was still to be determined but there is an emergency shutdown. As per reports, the northern region and central region have been most affected.

Words of Tymoshenko described the situation, “Most hits were recorded in the center and north of the country.

The situation in the capital is extremely difficult, special schedules of emergency shutdowns have been introduced.”

According to the sources, Electricity is out in at least half of the capital, Kyiv, and parts of Dnipro, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Zhytomyr regions.

In Kyiv reportedly three residential buildings were hit. Medics and rescue workers were on their way to the incident scene said Klitschko.

However, the situation is very critical in many areas and the rescue team is trying to get control. Reportedly in Kyiv, at least two explosives exploded and one person was killed as Russian missile rained down. Electricity shutdowns have made the situation more difficult to tackle.

How the world reacted to the strike

The missile strike happened in the southeastern village of Przewodow, near the border with Ukraine.

Here are some reactions from the different nations on the strike.

United States

An emergency roundtable was held by US president Joe Biden with G7 allies on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Indonesia.

He has mentioned that they will help Poland in figuring out “exactly what happened” and also will guide them to take their next step.

“It is unlikely…that it was fired from Russia. But we’ll see, Biden told media persons after the meeting.

Russia

The defense ministry dismissed the reports in Moscow that the missiles fired by Russian forces had landed in Poland.

In an online statement it was mentioned, “polish mass media and officials commit deliberate provocation to escalate the situation with their statement on alleged impact of ‘Russian’ rockets.”

European Union

EU Chief Charles Michel said that he was shocked by the strike news.

“My condolences to the families,” he shared on Twitter.

Russian mass strike shocked the world, since early October, Russia has launched missiles every week and it all targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
