Rahul Gandhi took oath as MP, holding the Constitution amid "Bharat Jodo" chants. He won from Wayanad and Raebareli, vacating the former for Priyanka Gandhi. BJP countered by highlighting the 50th anniversary of Emergency, criticizing Congress's constitutional stance.

Yesterday in a political function the congress party leader Rahul Gandhi become Member of Parliament and take oath in the Lok Sabha. It was conducted this afternoon and people shouted the slogan ‘Bharat Jodo’ which is the Hindi word for ‘Join India’.

Gandhi had the Indian constitution in his hand during the oath taking ceremony because he is a member of the two constituencies of Wayanad and Raebareli. While he has chosen to carry on from the Raebareli seat, Wayanad constituency will be represented by his sister and the Congress General secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Thus, during the oath-taking time, Gandhi said: ‘I do swear in the name of God to bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established; that I will respect the sovereignty and integrity of this great country; that I will perform the duties which are going to be entrusted upon me with utmost honesty and integrity.

Constitution is taken during the ceremony as an act of protest of the INDIA Opposition bloc, which actively waved the Constitution in the Parliament to prove their loyalty to the Constitution.

However, this event is not without controversy in the subsequent years. These issues were counter-framed by the BJP under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the social media platform. They were disappointed at the Congress party for the historical misdeeds and did not wish fifty years of the Emergency declared by Indira Gandhi.

Recently on social media platform X, our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said that Today is the day to salute all those brave men and women who fought against the Emergency The #DarkDaysOfEmergency reminds how the Congress Party undermined the basic Rights and Freedom and the Constitution of India.

The Prime Minister also alleged that the party has the same attitude which led to declaration of emergency and pointed out that the party is only pretending to be a new party as well as pretending to be respecting the constitution.

This ceremony of oath-taking and the political rhetoric associated with it indicate that the war between two dominant political parties is far from over in India – the constitution and the practice in the country is the bone of contention.
