Prime Minister
Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the opposition for branding their
grouping as "INDIA" and accused them of using the country's name as a
camouflage for vested interests. Drawing historical parallels, PM Modi likened
this tactic to the British era when the East India Company exploited India
while portraying itself as a welfare organization for Indians.
PM Modi went on
to point out that even terrorist outfits like the Indian Mujahideen and Popular
Front of India have used "India" in their names, suggesting that the
opposition's adoption of the name is a manipulative exercise to play with
people's emotions.
He labeled the
move as a reflection of the opposition's desperation, considering the strong
position of the NDA and BJP and the hope with which India is perceived
globally.
Dismissing the significance of the proposed no-confidence motion by the opposition, PM Modi reminded BJP MPs that during their first term, a similar motion was brought against them, but their seats increased significantly in the 2019 elections.
He confidently
predicted that if another no-confidence motion is tabled, the NDA will win even
more seats, surpassing the 350 mark.
It marked the
first direct attack by PM Modi on the opposition's choice of name for their
anti-BJP platform. Amid the ongoing standoff over the Manipur violence, the PM
expressed frustration at the opposition for obstructing parliamentary
proceedings despite the government's willingness to engage in a comprehensive
discussion on the situation in the northeastern state.
PM Modi urged party MPs to see the current atmosphere in India as a "new dawn" filled with optimism and hope. He emphasized the country's economic growth, which has risen to become the fifth-largest under his government and is projected to be the third-largest in its third term.
Additionally, he
stressed the importance of maintaining strong ties with allies, as exemplified
by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, a legacy of stalwarts like Atal
Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani.
In preparation
for Independence Day, PM Modi called on party leaders to organize various
programs across the country, including "Har Ghar Tiranga," and
unveiled plans for an "Amrit Van" or Amrit forest, to be created with
plants from different blocks throughout India.
