Nawaz Sharif to Return Pakistan on October 21

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), is set to return to Pakistan from his self-imposed exile in London on October 21.

The announcement was made by his younger brother and former Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, following a crucial meeting of the PML-N's top leadership in London.

Nawaz Sharif, 73 years old, has been residing in London since November 2019, seeking medical treatment and avoiding legal complications. His return is strategically timed as Pakistan gears up for upcoming elections, and his presence is expected to energize the PML-N's political campaign.

Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence in Nawaz Sharif's return, stating that he would be given a grand welcome upon arriving in Pakistan. This return marks a pivotal moment in Pakistani politics, as Nawaz Sharif was previously convicted in the Al-Azizia Mills and Avenfield corruption cases in 2018. He served a seven-year imprisonment in Lahore's Kot Lakhpat jail in connection with the Al-Azizia Mills case before being allowed to go to London on "medical grounds" in 2019.

Shehbaz Sharif has been vocal about his elder brother's return, affirming that Nawaz Sharif is willing to face the legal challenges against him and take a leading role in the upcoming election campaign. This move has been long-awaited by PML-N supporters, who view Nawaz Sharif as a central figure in the party's political landscape.

As the date approaches, political observers are closely watching the dynamics that Nawaz Sharif's return will introduce into Pakistan's political arena. The PML-N is expected to rally behind its leader, while rival parties will also strategize to counter his influence.
