MEET A HYBRID, CROSS BETWEEN A MALE TIGER AND A FEMALE LION Posted on January 1, 1970 News By Akta Yadav 75 Views MEET A HYBRID, CROSS BETWEEN A MALE TIGER AND A FEMALE LION Anukriti Raj Hybrids are mates between two different species, having different genes. The process of breeding of two different breeds is known as hybridization. They reproduce babies, occurring either naturally or through human’s intervention. It is a mix breed of animals that tends to be more dangerous and larger in size compared to their parents. Breeding of two different species is a miracle in the biological series of organism, it usually results of chromosomal translocation, chromosomal inversion, or its deletion. Meet a hybrid, Liger; cross between a male tiger and a female lion. Liger is one the largest hybrids of all known felines. They are distinct from the similar hybrid called the tigon, having same breed of parents, yet much larger in size than either parent species. Ligers have more strength than tigons, due to its small size the strength of tigons are half of the ligers. Though, hybrids cannot generally interbreed unlike these ligers are fertile and can mate with other ligers, tigers or lion. Breeding of ligers is a complex science that beats the biological species concept. Male ligers are generally sterile whereas female ligers reproduce to give birth to baby ligers. They also capable of breeding with tigons and producing Li-Tigons, Ti-ligers and other amalgamations. This interbreed animals only habitat in captivity today. Hybrid animals are unique creatures found on Earth. It is strange to determine the biological changes these species undergo, yet are most powerful and dangerous animals. The inter change of chromosomes between species is a complex problem that goes beyond the conventional concept of science. Ligers are one the hybrid animal formed from breeding of male tiger and female lion.
