Career and Education Many Afghan women have expressed their stories with teary eyes. Women who were the sole breadwinners for large families are now left with no option but to submit to harsh poverty since women have been prohibited from working in Afghanistan. The Taliban terror has taken a serious toll on the lives of Afghan women who enjoyed their careers. The lives of Afghan women who used to sustain their own lifestyles single-handedly and have no one to support them, have become unimaginably inconvenient. They cannot pay their own electricity and internet bills. A female Afghan judge shared how the Taliban terror is shaping women’s lives in such a manner that formal education or vocational training has been rendered meaningless for the lives of Afghan women. The Paradox of the Fight for Rights While on one hand, the world struggles for enforcement of 3rd generation human rights such as the right to be forgotten, right to a clean environment or the right to sleep, the lives of Afghan women are caged in such darkness that they cannot even see the light of basic human rights at the minimum.
