Lionel Messi and PSG were definitely a "match not made in heaven." If you had any doubts over it till now, the recent rumors should seal my conviction loud and clear!

After leaving Barcelona as a free agent in 2021, Lionel Messi joined the Qatar-owned PSG side. Since then, the French giants have only got bigger and better, with famous signings following one after another.

With arguably one of the most potent and deadliest trio in the form of Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe, PSG is rocking at the top of the Ligue 1 table. The trio is in red-hot form this season, as PSG is also trying to collect their first European silverware, a dream shattered on many previous occasions.

The recent reports from the capital of France, however, claimed that Lionel Messi is considering his future and is "most likely" to move out of PSG.

Although there are no concrete shreds of evidence, the continuous hatred he faced throughout his two years of stay with the club, alongside his love for the Catalonian giants, could prove fatal for the reigning French champions.

While many fans and few former players have criticized Messi for his inability to produce in "big matches," others have come in his support.

Emmanuel Petit, a France legend, has extended his support for the Argentinian great and asked him to leave the club in the summer, as they "don't deserve him."

With the lumpsum money spent on acquiring players and creating what fans called a "superteam," PSG's failure on the European nights drew high levels of criticism for everyone associated with the club.

In what appears to be Lionel Messi's last season at PSG, a failure in clinching the UCL might just provide the "necessary push" for the Argentinian to complete a move away from the club.

With Barcelona being the outright favorite at the moment, it will be a mistake to rule out a move to the Saudi league or the MLS, which are gaining mainstream popularity in recent times.
