In the recent showdown between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders at the iconic Eden Gardens, KKR's Mandeep Singh faced a crushing defeat, getting dismissed for a duck by RCB's David Willey.

As a commentator during the match, ex-Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar expressed his dissatisfaction with Mandeep Singh's performance, criticizing the Punjab-born batter for not justifying his spot on the team and seemingly relying on finding a franchise despite underwhelming performances.
Following Mandeep Singh's dismissal by David
Willey, Sunil Gavaskar didn't hold back, and expressed his disappointment with
the batter's performance, citing that Mandeep has struggled to prove his worth
and secure a spot in the team.
Mandeep Singh, who was bought by KKR for the
IPL 2023 season at his base price of INR 50 lakh, unfortunately, finds himself
holding an unfavorable record in the league. With his recent dismissal
resulting in a duck, Mandeep now holds the distinction of having the highest
number of ducks in the history of the Indian Premier League.
Having previously shared the top spot with
Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik, Mandeep Singh now holds the record for the
most ducks (14) in the history of the IPL. Despite playing 110 matches and
accumulating 1694 runs with an average of 20.91 and a strike rate over 124,
along with six fifty-plus scores, Mandeep's recent match against Punjab Kings
resulted in a meager score of just two runs.
The upcoming battle for Kolkata Knight Riders
is against the reigning champions, Gujarat Titans, set to take place on April 9
(Sunday) at the esteemed Narendra Modi Stadium.
