Queen Elizabeth II with Sceptre, Royal Orb and The Imperial CrownAccording to the Telegraph, plans have been drawn up under the Codename Operation Golden Orb, and will reflect the new sovereign’s vision for “a smaller modern monarchy”.The ceremony will be shorter than three hours and will include representatives from different faiths and community groups to accurately reflect the nation’s ethnic diversity. It will also be less expensive as the King has expressed the service, be considered “good value”, and it will include representatives of different faith groups and diverse communities representing the modern state of the UK.During the ceremony the St Edwards Crown will be briefly placed on the King's headThe king will be crowned with the 17th-century St Edward’s Crown. It is quite heavy and will only be used at the moment of crowning, and was also worn by Queen Elizabeth at her own coronation.
Alot of controversy centers around the precious diamonds found in two of the crowns.
One is the Imperial State Crown, which the King would put on towards the end of the ceremony and when he appears on the Buckingham Palace balcony. That crown contains the Cullinan II diamond, also called the Second Star of Africa. It was given to Edward VII by the government of Transvaal- a former British colony that is now South Africa. The Queen Consort Camilla is expected to wear the Queen Mother’s coronation crown, which contains another controversial diamond, the Koh-I-Noor.
