In the Kerala train attack case,
police have received further information regarding the identity of the accused
and it is believed that he is a native of Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The accused, Shahrukh Asaifi used to
live in Kozhikode as a construction worker, who had set his fellow passengers
on fire in a train in Kozhikode.

Reports state that after fleeing from the train, the accused received treatment for burns on his leg at Kannur District Hospital. The information was received after a sketch of the accused was earlier released by the Police based on crucial eyewitness Raziq's information, who was in the Alappuzha - Kannur express train then. It shows a man with short hair wearing a red shirt but it doesn't match the visuals obtained from the CCTV footage. But, as per police since the place was crowded they aren't paying much heed to the CCTV visuals.
The investigation team is being led
by ADGP Mr. Ajith Kumar while DGP Anil Kant said during talks with Asianet News
that a special investigation team has been constituted in this regard and some
crucial information has been received.
The bag received from the track near
Elathur Railway Station containing half a bottle of petrol, leaflets, a mobile
phone, clothes, and a notebook is of vital importance in the case. While the
phone was last used on March 30, 2023, the notebook contained English Letter
'S' scribbled in various shapes and also the names of some people, hinting at a
possible conspiracy of many individuals.
A claim by another eyewitness
suggests that the accused boarded the train at 9:30 p.m. in its D1 coach with
two petrol bottles in hand.
