Kerala Announces Complete Digital Literacy Goal:-
Under the leadership of CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala has become the first state in India to hold a full social audit of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
Further, the CM has also announced that a full audit for the “total digital literacy campaign in the State” has been completed in Kerala. The CM will also be inaugurating an event to celebrate the same.
An Achievement with Underlying Flaws
Even though a full audit of the MGNREG scheme has been announced in Kerala, it is not a new affair in the state. Such an audit scheme was announced and implemented earlier as well.
However, the officers involved in the duty ended up vacating their positions after their payouts were not released for a long time. The Kerala government had stated that it had not received a large chunk of funds for the salaries to be paid.
It can only be hoped that the audit of the MGNREG scheme announced this time, planned to be conducted once every 2 years, will be carried out effectively throughout
the State, and the project will sustain until completion.
The ‘Digi Keralam’ Project
The CM will inaugurate the ‘Digi Keralam’ project on 17th April 2023 (Monday) at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kochi. The project aims to help Kerala emerge as a completely digitally literate state within the upcoming 6 months.
It is a proud moment for not only Kerala but the whole country since this is the first time Such a program is being launched in any Indian state.
