Vivek Agnihotri, a filmmaker, chose not to respond directly to Nadav Lapid, an Israeli director and the head of the IFFI jury, regarding his criticism of The Kashmir Files. Instead, Agnihotri wrote in a mysterious post on Tuesday that the "most dangerous thing" is the truth because it can "make people lie."
Lapid had remarked about The Kashmir Files during the IFFI 2022 closing ceremony, "There were 15 films in the international competition — the front window of the festival. Out of them, 14 had the makings of a movie and sparked lively debates. The 15th movie, The Kashmir Files, disturbed and shocked us all. That seemed like a vulgar, propaganda film to us, unfit for a section of such a festival where artists compete.
Early on Tuesday, Agnihotri posted on Twitter, "GM. The greatest danger comes from the truth. It has the capacity to induce lying. #CreativeConsciousness.”

Agnihotri had previously compared producing The Kashmir Files in the current context to producing Schindler's List during the height of Nazism in the 1940s. The filmmaker had stated, "It was impossible to make a film about the Kashmiri Hindu genocide," in an interview with The New Yorker. Everyone was terrified due to terrorism. And so we decided to take one step ahead. People praised Schindler's List and said, "Yes, you brought the truth out," when it was released. However, consider producing Schindler's List while the Nazis were in power. Imagine being successful during the Nazi era. Now, terrorism is in charge.
Agnihotri chose not to respond to Lapid's remarks, but the film's leading man, Anupam Kher, shared The Kashmir Files posters, a still from the Oscar-winning movie Schindler's List, and a few images from the Holocaust. He wrote, " झूट कितना भी ऊँचा हो.. सत्य के मुक़ाबले में छोटा ही होता है”.. (No matter how big a lie may appear, it always pales in comparison to the truth.)
The movie's other actor, Darshan Kumar, expressed his displeasure with Lapid's remarks. Despite the fact that everyone has a right to their own opinions, the actor stated in an interview with ETimes that the movie "has accurately captured the suffering of the Kashmiri pandit community, who continue to fight for justice against the vicious acts of terrorism.”
