Kannada actor Suraj Kumar, popularly known as Dhruwan, lost his leg after he met with a severe road accident on June 24. 


The accident took place while he was riding his bike on the Mysuru-Gundluper highway near Begur. 


The 24-year-old actor sustained a major injury to his right leg and was immediately rushed to Manipal Hospital in Mysuru. 


Unfortunately, due to the severity of the injury, doctors had to amputate his leg below the knee in order to save his life.

Suraj, who has a passion for bike riding, was en route to Ooty from Mysuru when the accident occurred. Reports suggest that he lost control of his bike while attempting to overtake a tractor and collided with a tipper lorry at around 4 pm on Saturday. The news of Suraj's accident has sent shockwaves through the Kannada film industry.


Suraj Kumar is the son of film producer S A Srinivas and the nephew of Dr. Rajkumar's wife, Paravathamma, hence he comes from a prestigious cinema family. After the tragic accident, Kannada superstar Shivaraj Kumar and his wife paid a visit to Suraj in the hospital.

Anup Anthony's "Bhagawan Shri Krishna Paramathma," in which the young actor was set to make his first appearance, was scrapped. After Darshan, a well-known actor, promoted the film, it was put on hold. Suraj was also working on another project titled "Ratham." Additionally, he had signed on for an untitled film alongside actress Priya Prakash Varrier, but the status of the project remains uncertain.


The entire Kannada film fraternity and Suraj's fans have expressed their concern and sent their prayers for his speedy recovery.
