In the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, more than 8,005 Palestinians have lost their lives due to Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip in the past month. Simultaneously, Hamas, the military group, launched an attack on Israel on October 7, resulting in over 1,400 casualties. This has escalated into a "long and difficult war," as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned.

The conflict has witnessed Hamas claiming to be engaged in "heavy fighting" with Israel in Gaza. In response, US President Joe Biden has called for an "immediate and significant" increase in aid to the region.

Sonia Gandhi, former chief of the Indian Congress party, expressed strong opposition to India's abstention on the recent UN resolution regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict. She condemned Hamas' attacks and emphasized her party's support for direct negotiations for a sovereign, independent, viable, and secure state of Palestine coexisting with Israel in peace.

Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched an expanded ground operation in Gaza, targeting Hamas anti-tank positions and confronting gunmen along the coast and at the Erez border crossing. The IDF also faced rocket attacks from Gaza on Israeli towns, particularly targeting Hamas positions in the northern part of the Strip.

The conflict transitioned into a "second stage," as described by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a televised address. He likened it to Israel's foundational conflict in the 1940s, framing it as the nation's "second independence war."

Amidst concerns about potential actions by pro-Palestinian protesters in the Russian Republic of Dagestan, Israel has sought collaboration with Russian authorities to ensure the safety of Israelis and Jews within the region. The Israeli ambassador in Moscow is actively working with Russian authorities to address the situation.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry emphasized its commitment to protecting Israeli citizens and Jews and expects Russian law enforcement authorities to take decisive measures against those involved in rioting and provocative actions related to the Gaza conflict.

The situation remains complex and continues to evolve, with international leaders and organizations striving to bring about a resolution to the Israel-Hamas conflict.
