India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, strongly criticized Canada for its tolerance of pro-Khalistani elements after videos emerged of a parade float depicting the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Jaishankar condemned Canada's acceptance of separatists and extremists, highlighting the negative impact on the relationship between the two countries.

The float, part of a 5-km parade organized by Khalistan supporters in Brampton City, showcased the assassination of Indira Gandhi. Jaishankar expressed concern about the space given to individuals advocating violence and separatism, questioning the motives behind such actions beyond mere vote bank politics.

The parade, allegedly orchestrated by Khalistani elements, took place on June 4, close to the anniversary of 'Operation Blue Star' on June 6. Jaishankar also addressed India's stance on China's Belt and Road Initiative, emphasizing India's resilience in the face of coercion, inducements, and false narratives. He reiterated India's firm rejection of cross-border terrorism and discussed various aspects of India's foreign policies and relationships with key nations.

Jaishankar highlighted India's increasing reputation as a reliable development partner and its recognized global economic impact, particularly in the Global South. Moreover, he criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for criticizing India while abroad, cautioning against discussing internal matters on the international stage as the world closely observes India's actions.

He also highlighted India's steadfast approach to China, its growing reputation as a development partner, and the need for caution when discussing internal matters internationally.
