Central India could see widespread rainfall with thunderstorms, while eastern states such as West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha might experience heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall occurred on Monday in several regions of India, including West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Delhi NCR, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and Goa. Hailstorms were observed in Rajasthan, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh as well.

The IMD attributed the heavy rainfall to a Western Disturbance, causing cyclonic circulation over Haryana and neighboring regions in the lower to upper tropospheric levels.

Another Western Disturbance was causing a cyclonic circulation over south Pakistan in the middle tropospheric levels, while an Induced Cyclonic Circulation was observed over northwest Rajasthan in lower tropospheric levels. A trough/wind discontinuity was also present, running from west Vidarbha to South Interior Karnataka in lower tropospheric levels.

The IMD's forecast for the next five days predicted that temperatures across India would remain below or near normal, and no parts of the country would experience heatwave conditions. However, northwest India could expect widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning, along with hailstorms in states such as Uttarakhand, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
