The ASI concluded a 100-day survey of Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, submitting a report to the court. The survey aimed to determine if the mosque was built atop a pre-existing temple, a longstanding dispute between Hindu and Muslim communities.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) concluded an extensive scientific survey of Varanasi's Gyanvapi mosque, preparing to present its report to the district court on November 17. Lasting over 100 days, the survey employed cutting-edge technology like ground penetrating radar, aiming to uncover the site's historical layers.

ASI's completion of the survey, initially due in September, faced delays, necessitating an extension granted by the court. The meticulous investigation involved scanning the mosque's inner and outer walls, cellar, and various areas except the 'wuzukhana,' where Muslims perform pre-prayer rituals.

The contentious nature of the mosque's premises stems from longstanding disagreements between Hindu and Muslim communities regarding its construction. The Allahabad High Court's refusal to halt the ASI survey heightened the significance of the impending report. This dispute revolves around claims that a pre-existing temple was replaced by the mosque, a contention contested by both sides with historical references and records.
