Marlene Schiappa, a French government minister who has been at the forefront of women's and LGBT rights, has faced criticism From her own political party after appearing on the cover of Playboy magazine for an interview.

Schiappa, who has been a vocal advocate for women's rights and was appointed as the country's first-ever Gender Equality Minister in 2017, was featured on the magazine cover wearing a white dress. Her appearance has drawn criticism from colleagues, including French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, who called it inappropriate, especially during the ongoing social and political crisis in France.

Many have also criticized the timing of the interview, as the country is going through a turbulent period due to French President Emmanuel Macron's controversial pension reforms, which have faced public opposition. 

Schiappa's appearance on the magazine cover has been viewed by some as a distraction from more pressing issues facing the country.

Despite the criticism, Schiappa defended her decision to appear on the magazine cover, stating that defending women's rights is an ongoing and universal issue that should not be overshadowed by the current crisis in France. 

She took to social media to respond to her critics, stating that women in France have the right to control their bodies, and called out detractors and hypocrites.
