In a distressing turn of events, the son of a Delhi Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) found himself at the center of a tragic incident, allegedly orchestrated by friends over a financial dispute. The victim, identified as 26-year-old Lakshya Chauhan, was reportedly pushed into a canal in Haryana by two of his friends during a fateful visit to attend a marriage function in Sonepat.

The incident came to light when Chauhan failed to return home after the event, prompting his father, ACP Yashpal Singh, to file a missing complaint on Tuesday. As suspicions of foul play arose during the investigation, the complaint was later converted into an abduction First Information Report (FIR). The case took a grim turn on Friday when murder charges were added, and one person, identified as Abhishek, was arrested in connection with the crime.

During the interrogation, shocking details emerged. Abhishek revealed that Chauhan had allegedly borrowed money from Vikas Bhardwaj, another friend, and reacted negatively when asked to repay the loan. This perceived debt dispute led to a sinister plan to eliminate Chauhan. On the day of the incident, Bhardwaj invited Abhishek to a marriage function in Sonepat, where they joined Chauhan.

After the event, while returning to Delhi, the trio stopped near the Munak Canal. It was at this point that Bhardwaj and Abhishek allegedly pushed Chauhan into the canal and fled the scene in his car. Bhardwaj subsequently dropped Abhishek in Narela before disappearing himself.

Abhishek's arrest prompted the addition of murder charges (Section 302) and charges related to causing the disappearance of evidence (Section 201) in the FIR. Efforts are now underway to locate Chauhan and his car, while the hunt for Vikas Bhardwaj continues.

This disturbing incident shines a light on the darker consequences that can stem from financial disputes, turning what should have been a joyous celebration into a harrowing tragedy for the Delhi ACP's family.
