Farmer in Tumakuru District Held for Illegally Raising a Fox at Poultry Farm

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Karnataka Police has allegedly arrested a man who fostered a fox cub at his poultry farm in the belief that it would bring him luck. The suspect was recognized as Lakshmikanth, who is a resident of Nagavalli village in Tumakuru district. The fox cub was about seven months old and the accused poultry farmer is around 42 years old, according to the police. While being interrogated, he admitted to the authorities that he had fostered the fox cub seven months ago and had kept it ever since because he thought it would bring good luck to his chicken farm. One of the prevalent superstitions in Karnataka is that a person would have a lucky day if they witness a fox just after waking up in the morning. For the same reason, many people place fox pictures in their bedrooms. The forest department intends to release the fox after a few months when it gains back the capacity for survival in the wild forest greens.
