DK Shivakumar, the president of Congress in Karnataka, became emotional as he expressed joy and gratitude for the party's impressive win in the state assembly elections. He acknowledged the unwavering support of his party workers, which played a crucial role in the victory.

With the vote count still ongoing, Congress is on the verge of emerging as the leading party in the state. Shivakumar extended his appreciation to the voters, expressing his gratitude for placing their trust in Congress and providing them with an opportunity to serve.

Shivakumar also extended gratitude towards Sonia Gandhi, a prominent Congress leader, for providing support during his time of need. He recalled the time when he was imprisoned by the opposing BJP party and how Sonia Gandhi had visited him, an act that he will never forget.

The assembly elections in Karnataka witnessed a high voter turnout, with 73.19% of the electorate casting their votes peacefully across 224 constituencies. It exceeded the previous record of 72.36% set in 2018.

To ensure that all voters had easy access to polling stations, 737 theme-based and ethnic-model polling stations were set up. Additionally, 239 polling stations were made accessible for persons with disabilities (PWD).

The upcoming State Assembly Elections hold a great deal of importance as they are being conducted nearly a year ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. This election could potentially play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the national elections next year.
