Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra was a breakthrough measure taken by the Congress party reflecting its strategic efforts towards the General Elections of 2024. However, Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader who led the Yatra has been facing some repercussions of his comments during the Bharat Jodo Yatra lately. Delhi Police What Remarks did Rahul Gandhi Make? While talking of the situation of women in Srinagar, Rahul Gandhi commented, “I have heard that women are still being sexually assaulted.” This statement was a big statement coming from Rahul Gandhi given the tireless efforts that the government has been putting in for ensuring a safe environment for women. The statement is no longer a personal statement that Rahul Gandhi made. It entails the responsibility of the Congress party too. The Delhi Police in Action The Delhi police sent a legal notice to Rahul Gandhi asking him about the particulars of the victims of sexual harassment in his knowledge so that the police can take action upon the perpetrators. To this legal notice of the Delhi police, the Congress party replied, “We will respond to the notice in due course in accordance with law.” Other Statements by The Congress The Congress posted on Twitter, “A government rattled by Shri Rahul Gandhi's questions on PM Modi and Adani's relationship hides behind its police. 45-days after Bharat Jodo Yatra was completed, Delhi Police has, via a notice, sought details of women who met him and spoke about harassment and violence they may have faced.” In response to the actions initiated by the Delhi police, the Congress party has massively supported Rahul Gandhi and tried to reflect that women are currently in a position where they are widely oppressed by the society.
