Axar Patel's Quick-Fire Innings Not Enough as DC Suffers Back-to-Back Defeats

During a recent match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC), DC skipper David Warner justified his decision not to allow Indian all-rounder Axar Patel to Bowl a single over in the match where his team lost by six wickets. In the first innings, DC scored 162/8, with GT pacers Mohammad Shami (3/41) and Alzarri Joseph (2/29) putting DC on the back foot with some excellent bowling. Axar Patel’s quick-fire cameo of 36 from 22 balls helped DC to a respectable total. In response, GT reached the target with 11 balls to spare, with Sai Sudharsan scoring 62 not out of 48 and David Miller smashing 31 off 16. The defending champions GT secured their second consecutive win as they defeated DC, who suffered their second loss in as many games. This victory was made possible by the unbeaten partnership of 56 runs from 29 balls between two left-handed players.

Warner Praises Gujarat Titans Bowlers for Adapting Better to Matchup Situation in Recent DC-GT Match

Following the match, DC captain Warner clarified that he was unable to utilize Axar in bowling due to the presence of two left-handed batters in the Gujarat team, which would have resulted in unfavorable matchups. Warner praised the traveling bowlers of Gujarat for adapting to the situation better than the DC bowlers. He added that it swung more than he anticipated and losing wickets in the powerplay can be a struggle. They showed how to adapt to the situation, and it is a learning for DC. Warner also spoke about the importance of being on point and expecting that swing in the first few overs. He felt that they were in the game till the back end, but Sai Sudharsan batted well, and Miller did what he does. Warner believed that with the dew, it would be challenging if they did not get 180-190.
