Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently visited New Delhi to meet with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, followed by meetings with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi the next day.

These meetings took place as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the unity among opposition parties in order to effectively challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It is worth noting that this was the second meeting between Kharge and Kumar within the past one and a half months.

KC Venugopal, who serves as the Congress general secretary for the organization, along with Lalan Singh, the chief of JD(U), attended a gathering at the residence of the Congress president located at 10, Rajaji Marg.

Venugopal confirmed that a gathering of non-BJP parties will take place in the near future, as he stated that a significant majority of these parties will convene soon.

Following the meeting, he expressed that an announcement regarding the specific date and location of the gathering will be made within the next one to two days, emphasizing the participation of numerous parties in this event.

"We have initiated a process of national unity by engaging in discussions with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Rahul Gandhi, focusing on the current political scenario. The aim is to forge a new direction for our country and enhance the unity of the Opposition. There are talks about a potential gathering of Opposition leaders in Patna to further strengthen our collective agenda."

On the weekend, Kumar and Kejriwal joined forces and appealed for unity among opposition parties to confront the BJP.

The leader of JD(U) visited the residence of the AAP convenor and expressed his full backing in the ongoing conflict with the central government regarding the authority over administrative services.

Prominent political figures such as Tejashwi Yadav, Hemant Soren, Sharad Pawar, MK Stalin, and Farooq Abdullah were present at Siddaramaiah's inauguration as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, indicating a display of solidarity among opposition parties. Kumar has been engaging with opposition leaders and regional leaders to foster unity, although the outcome of these efforts is still uncertain.
