In a cultural spectacle, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha led the inauguration of a three-day Diwali festival at the historic Tripureswari temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths in Udaipur's Gomati district. Commencing on November 12, the 700-year-old temple saw heightened security measures to ensure the peaceful celebration of the festival of lights.

Accompanied by State Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, and Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, the inaugural function witnessed the opening of the temple at 4:30 am on Sunday. The priests performed the Chandi path, a crucial worship ritual, while special ornaments adorned the Tripura Sundari deity for Diwali.

The temple remained open throughout Sunday night, closing at 11:00 pm on Monday and Tuesday. Despite the nighttime closure, the fair surrounding the temple continued as scheduled, promising Diwali celebrations marked by pomp and gaiety.

This year, the temple introduced a technological touch, live-streaming the puja rituals on giant screens for devotees on Sunday and Monday. Abhishek Debroy, the local MLA and chairman of the fair committee expressed hope for record-breaking attendance at the event.

In line with environmental concerns, the police took measures to enforce the use of only green crackers during the festivities, following advice from the Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB). Superintendent of Police (West) Kiran Kumar emphasized strict action against the use of banned firecrackers during the Diwali festival.
