In a tragic incident in Kerala, the death toll from a bomb blast during a Jehovah's Witnesses meeting in Kalamassery has risen to three. An all-party meeting is underway to address the situation. The incident occurred at a private convention center in Kalamassery, where a 12-year-old girl named Libina from Malayattoor in Ernakulam district succumbed to her injuries.

The girl had severe burns covering 95% of her body, and despite ventilator support, her condition continued to deteriorate, ultimately leading to her passing at 12:40 a.m. Additionally, two people were killed, and over 50 others sustained injuries in the blast.

The attacker, identified as Dominic Martin, claimed responsibility and surrendered to the police, citing his anger over some of the religious group's teachings as the motive behind the attack.

The blast was triggered by an improvised explosive device (IED), and investigative teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard were dispatched to the scene. The explosion occurred at around 9:30 a.m. while nearly 2,500 people were gathered for a prayer meeting.

Survivors recounted the terrifying experience of loud explosions and a fireball engulfing the convention center. Smoke quickly filled the area, causing panic among those present.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a timer-based low-intensity IED was used to target the congregation. While there were no traces of shrapnel to magnify the impact of the blast, the IED was placed near an oil container to intensify the fire. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a terror-related motive.

Political leaders from various parties condemned the blast, with the opposition, particularly the BJP, criticizing the state government's handling of the law and order situation. Kerala's Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, has initiated a 20-member special team to investigate the blast and has called for an all-party meeting to address the tragic incident.

Kerala's governor, Arif Mohammad Khan, expressed his shock and described the incident as a horrific tragedy that is unacceptable in a democracy and a rule-of-law society.

The blast in Kalamassery has sent shockwaves through the region, and as the investigation continues, the community comes together to grieve the loss of innocent lives and seek answers to this devastating event.
