Bloody Sunday Visit to Selma:-
On a Sunday trip to Alabama to commemorate "Bloody Sunday's" 58th anniversary, when state troopers beat up peaceful protesters marching against discrimination, President Joe Biden pitched for expanded voting rights to Africans Biden's visit to Selma is his most recent activity to demonstrate his dedication to black voters, who supported his victory to the White House and would likely be a crucial part of his re-election campaign in 2024. The Edmund Pettus Bridge is where state police were stationed, beat, and gassed the 1965 voting rights marchers; among them, John Lewis, a black civil rights fighter who later served as a US Congressman, tear gas was also deployed. The president Biden covered all these issues on ‘Bloody Sunday’. He claimed to have participated in Civil Rights Movements for the protection of civil rights when he was a student. For this claim however the western media has quoted it to be an ‘Unproven Claim’. He  issued a very emotional statement that he himself felt very guilty for not being to the historical place of Edmund Pettus Bridge.  The nation was appalled by the brutality, and media coverage of it inspired the 1965 Voting Rights Act. To prevent history from being forgotten, President Biden will discuss how important it is to remember Bloody Sunday, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean Pierre said Friday. He will emphasize how the struggle for voting rights must continue if black Americans are to receive economic justice and civil rights.  Republicans, who have a majority in the US House of Representatives, are against the proposals. The President has tried to increase the number of Afro-American voters supporting him in his re-election bid. A change to the Democratic Party's 2024 preliminary schedule was authorized by the DNC last month, moving Iowa's presidential nomination process from that year to South Carolina, a State with a high percentage of black voters. At the Atlanta church of the assassinated civil rights activist Martin Luther King jr., Biden gave a speech in January. Vice President Kamala Harris traveled to Selma on the anniversary of the March before Biden's trip there this year. Bush, and his wife Laura crossed the bridge together in 2015 as the march marked its 50th anniversary.
