The agency has imposed restrictions on the import of Global Pharma's products and the company has initiated a voluntary recall of all unexpired batches of the artificial tears. The warning comes amidst an outbreak of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the US, which has affected at least 55 people across a dozen states and caused at least one death. Five out of 11 patients with eye infections directly linked to the bacteria have lost their vision, reports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Midnight Inspection Uncovers Scary Reality In response to the FDA's warning, Tamil Nadu's Drug Controller and Central Drug Control Authority conducted a midnight inspection at Global Pharma. Samples were collected from batches sent to the US and unopened samples are currently being awaited. The inspection concluded at 2 am and the authorities have ordered the suspension of the production of ophthalmic solutions by the manufacturer. Your Health in Your Hands: Exercise Caution with Artificial Tears The inspection of Global Pharma highlights the need for stringent measures to ensure the safety and quality of pharmaceutical products.
