On 6th May 2023 (Saturday), the Congress
party alleged that the BJP was plotting to kill Congress President Shri
Mallikarjun Kharge along with his family before the Karnataka state elections.
The party also asserted that these threats could in no condition be taken
lightly and action from authorities is required to prevent the
"sinister" and "ugly plot" of the BJP from succeeding.
Here’s what the BJP has to say about
these rumors.
The
BJP’s Stand on Alleged Death Threats to Mallikarjun Kharge
Manikanta Rathod, a candidate from the
BJP for the Karnataka state election, has expressed, “I was very surprised and
laughed a lot that Congress is so scared of losing the election. So that's why
they're making such false allegations. I have registered a complaint against
Congress.”
The BJP has also called all the audios
and videos being circulated by the Congress in support of the claim of a death
threat to Mallikarjun Kharge fabricated and false. The Congress has also played
audio as proof of the threats during a press conference in which BJP member
Manikanta Rathod can be heard using abusive language for Kharge and angrily
speaking of killing him along with his family.
Manikanta Rathod’s criminal history has
been used by Congress as a tool to reinforce the truth of the death threats.
However, Rathod and other BJP officials have treated Congress as a laughing
stock ever since Congress tried to stir public emotions regarding the death
threats to Mallikarjun Kharge.
The BJP has also gone to the extent of
saying that the reason for these tactics being adopted by Congress is the sheer
fear of losing the Karnataka state elections.
