The Madras High Court’s Warning
G Chandrashekharan J. while taking the decision regarding a speech to be delivered at the occasion of LTTE Leader V Prabhakaran’s birth anniversary, said, “It is made clear that the speech shall not be against the sovereignty of the nation, should not affect the sovereignty of the friendly relations of SAARC nations. Other conditions are upheld.”
The judgment can be looked at from an extremely positive angle. It reflects the ideal of a true democracy where there is respect for indigenous culture, delicately balanced with the sense of oneness of the nation.
